New - Old - About Me - Poetry

"A Book of Poetry from Years Ago"

The One Minute Writer prompt for December 6th:
Book. Write about a book you were given as a gift, or a book you gave as a gift.

The Sound of The Harp-Reflections by Genevieve Smith Whitford

Upon my shelf sits a thin volume of poetry nestled in a dusty rose cover, a simple and lovely gift from a beloved sister so many years ago. The verses inside are a timeless reflection of birth and life, love and hate, growing up and growing old. The poems I read when the book was new and crisp seem different now with it's faded and tattered cover. Upon each reading I find another richness - words waiting within for my moment of new understanding, proving to be a lifelong treasure in just a little book of poetry.

These words are my response to yesterday's daily writing prompt posted at The One Minute Writer.

(Thank you Beth for this signed book of poetry you gave me for Christmas in 1989. I've enjoyed reading the poetry in this book all these years.)
