"Beauty; Hush Collab-May"
May 5, 2001, 7:34 p.m.

This is a "Hush"collaboration project.
May Topic: Beauty. What is beauty to you? How do you define beauty? Is it important to you?

Beauty is, as Beauty is Perceived

Beauty.

Some say, you either have it or you don't.

That's a bunch of baloney.

A more accurate statement is... you either appreciate it or you don't.

Unfortunately, Beauty, along with Love and Sex Appeal, is one of the most sought after qualities by people in the world today, driven aggressively by marketing advertisers.

People seek Beauty.

On any given street corner, in any given city in the U.S. (as I can't speak for other countries or cultures), you will be able to find a Beauty Salon or a business that sells beauty in one shape or another.

Beauty Salons are everywhere.

Yet, I have not once walked down the street and come across a Peace Salon or a Freedom Salon or a Truth Salon.

That's an interesting reflection on humanity.

Yet every one wants Beauty. No one wants Ugly.

Beauty is neither right nor wrong, just as it's opposite, Ugly, is neither right nor wrong.

These aren't even real qualities that exist in the world - they are only subjective perceptions and opinions that people believe are realities.

Beauty, as Ugly, only exists in the mind.

There is no such thing as Beauty.

Can you touch Beauty? Can you hold it in your hand?

If I said, "I'm going to buy some Beauty products", I'd only be buying a product from a company that makes me believe I'm buying Beauty, based upon what my perception of Beauty is.

The reason that people think that Beauty exists in the world, is because so many people say it does. People agree on this, because they have the same perception.

The reality is that Beauty only exists in the world, because people believe that their opinions and perceptions are true.

People might disagree and say that a beautiful sunset would still be beautiful if no one were around to see it.

A more accurate statement is...A sunset would still exist if there were no people around to see it. It only becomes beautiful when people see the sunset and call it beautiful.

It is a human concept and a human quality that people attach to the world and what they see and experience.

A dog does not think the sunrise is beautiful. The dog does not have an opinion of it. The dog only notices that the light is fading.

Beauty is simply an opinion.

Each of us as individuals have the power to think and to perceive what is beautiful. We can do this on our own with no help from anyone else.

So, why do we then allow ourselves to be led like sheep by marketing advertisers to tell us what is beautiful?

Beauty, like Love, has been raped by propaganda and been made it's slave.

Beauty for the sake of commerce is never beautiful.

It is in our own individual perception of all that is beautiful in the world on the aesthetic level, that releases Beauty from the mass perceptions created by propaganda.

Beauty exists only for the sake of your own opinion, and therefore is beautiful. That's the important thing.

For me, true Beauty is the Beauty that touches your soul and it's not a Beauty that can be sold.

But then again, this is simply my opinion.

By the way...Happy Cinco De Mayo!
